The opening to the cave is very small.

Azure cavern more

These were taken with the flash so that you can see how clear the water is every ripple and pebble.
Liz pointed out that I had enough far sight to wear a bathing suit which matched the cave. Of course I managed not to bring any other proper summer clothes - HA!!!!!

Azure cave

Dan and our (odd) captain on the way to the cave.

Apparently Odysseus is said to have ended up in a cavern like this and thought he was in the next world. There is something otherworldly and awesome about being in a place like this. Yes - the water really is that color.
When you are in there the cave is dark above you except for the azure reflecting up and onto rocks and peoples faces. It is so clear you can see every barnacle under the surface and every ripple from the oars. You can see where the sunlight comes in through the opening beneath the water's surface. Seeing that doesn't change the amazing sense of awe in the place. One of the most incredible things I have ever seen.

Adriatic sun

Such a little baby!

She discovered she could see her reflection in the chrome on the boat.

Hvar continued

This beautiful church yard was below us almost carved into the hill. It was sort of overgrown with well worn statues. We tried and tried to find a way in but couldn't find one. So we have this picture.

Hvar

Also in Croatia. I think this was Hvar. Beautiful dock with places to shop on the water. We all bought lavender which is native to the area. I also bought lavendar and rosemary oil from an older lady who spoke a couple of words of English but entirely by accident I discovered German worked. (I think when I'm trying to communicate and I can't say a word that is my my almost unconcious effort. I just sort of realized we were speaking German. She was taken with Katya and asked if she could give her a little gift of a little bag of lavendar - which I will put in one of her dresser drawers.

Dancing in Croatia

I love this picture. This was our first stop off the boat in Croatia at an old fort. It was very hot. My mom took Katya under the canopy and danced with her.
